Once again, it’s time for Summer Reading at Your Punxsutawney Memorial Library. This year’s theme is Unearth a Story, focusing on dinosaurs and archaeology. We are including Adults in our Summer by offering Reading Punch Cards (more about that later). We will have our usual groups gather at the Library for a special week of fun. *Please note, when determining which group to bring your readers, that the activities and crafts are designed specifically for that age group, and older/younger children may find the activities/crafts to be too easy/difficult.* Our groups and their dates are noted on the other side of this flyer. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask any of our staff.
We will be giving prizes throughout the summer with a series of scratch-off tickets and raffle tickets. Children can earn scratch-off tickets by reading, attending programs, and completing activities (verified by Mr. Nate). Each scratch-off ticket will win either a small prize (from the treasure chest), a book (from the prize book cart), OR an entry into the Summer Raffle Drawing (for a $100 Amazon Gift Card). Reading Logs can be turned in starting June 8th and must be returned by August 15th. Note: Reading logs for Elementary doesn’t have the criteria- for every 120 mins read, you get a scratch off ticket)
Adults can earn scratch-off tickets by completing a punch card. They can complete their punch cards by reading a book from our Suggested Summer Reading list, OR any Adult/YA Book. Suggested books earn 2 punches, while all other Adult/YA books earn 1 punch. With the scratch-off tickets, adults can win a small prize, a free book (from the book prize cart), OR an entry into the Summer Raffle Drawing (for a $100 Amazon Gift Card). In addition to earning scratch-off tickets, Adults will earn a free Papoose Pizza coupon from Punxsy Pizza for every completed punch card. Readers of all ages have until August 15th to complete minutes, earn raffle entries, and pizza coupons. The drawing for the Amazon gift card will take place on August 17th. The winner does not need to be present.
We do ask that you register each participant at the Library before the start of their age group week so that we can get an accurate count for supplies needed for crafts and games. Registration will begin on May 4th. The legal parent/guardian must sign-up their readers.
